Love Aaj Kal

Some times even the small things make a difference,& if you try to wrap this small innovations & present it to Imitaiaz ,he comes up with his new flick Love Aaj Kal.

Love Aaj Kal is a movie often told in our Hindi movies but this time uses a innovative line of attack & reverse engineering approach of reciting the story which profitably foresees the concept of director & gives strong hints about the theme of film i.e experimental & trying to be unique.

Love Aaj Kal is a movie with a simple love story , nothing much to tell about the story of the movie ,for me the film is all about some stylish dialogues voyaging between a modern bewildered love story & its heritage counterpart with a Punjabi tadka .

The movie starts with rounds of engagements between Raj played by Saif & Meera played by Deepika living dangerously in abroad mingling with each other day & night but apparently realize over a period of time that they are far too serious about their careers rather than their love life ,finally deciding to part their ways &break up.

Here enters the proxy Hero of the film ,Rishi Kappor who tells Raj the importance of love in his own distinctive way by getting into his old reminiscences imagining his young part as Raj. But as you can expect from a true bollywood love story ,love reconciles again & the protagonists start feeling the pinch for their love &start conniving to initiate rounds of ditching their current partners & in mid of all this as all hindi films ends with smiles, lastly manage to convene their lifes at the end.

Talking about the Characters Saif( as Raj) is more like a Aamir khan in Dil Chahta Hai consistently denying the existence of love & relationship ,with the only difference being his hamming in multiple occasions with his patent “kya…ye sach hai”…”I cant belive it” type of dialogues. But in the end he covers it all with his Punjabi role which is a delight to watch & impresses in most of the scenes with his group of lafangas..

Deepika Padukone again successfully furnishes a monotonous &expressionless performance of her & alienates herself from the basics of acting .For example take the scene in which she puts in the picture of Raj & his association with her in front of his husband played by Rahul Khanna & pleads deliberately to run away from their relationship .She looks too comical in that scene & believe me I found people laughing at this scene contrary to being serious. But to some extent it can get discounted in the climax scenes where she fairly does justice to her acting profession & showcases her acting without any real talent.

Rishi kapoor is better loved a s imaginative young Saif than himself, but he also gives a good performance.Neetu kapoor & Rahul khanna does play their little cameos perfectly.

But for me Harleen kaur is the real star of the film with Sikh Saif whose cute modicum presence fills all the gulches which Deepika creates.

The movie should be better known as a good film other than a entertainer. In the end I give it 3 stars & must watch rating for the lovely Harleen –Saif love story & his Punjabi group, take my words you will love them as well.
